Today I'm going to introduce a short history of Holga...

Below are the brief history of Holga:
1982 The first Holga runs off the conveyor belt in Hong King, originally conceived as a cheap medium format camera for the US-market and for American photography schools

Late- 1980s Production of the Diana (another cheap medium format camera) ceases and opens a market niche for the Holga in the West. The Holga first appears at carnivals in the USA, and becomes known at American photo colleges and art colleges.
1992 The Lomographic Society Internet is founded and the 10 golden rules of Lomography are being developed

1992 Tang Dynasty release Dreaming Back To Tang Dynasty, the first heavy Metal album in the history of Chinese music
1998 Michael Zollner writes for the first time about the Holga in Europe, in German Fotomagazine
1998 Thousands of enquiries from Europe follow; at the time the Holga could only be ordered directly in the USA
2001 The Holga is accepted as a qualifying camera in the Lomographic Sampling Games; the Lomographic Society sells the Holga online and at selected stores
2002 Fred Lebain publishes his book Mes Vacances avec Holga
2003 The Lomographic Society brings the Holga Starter Kit onto the market and makes the Holga world famous at last.

part of the content is picked from the book Holga
It is surprising that it already has more than twenty five years of history but still keeps kind of traditional style. I think other cameras usually become digitalized and automatic as the time passes, but Holga does not have to change to improve the quality of the picture. I also thought interesting that Holga has a kind of Western look and developed in the U.S. and Europe, but actually is born in Hong Kong.
